LA PLATA HOME PRESS, La Plata, Missouri December 16, 1965 WILLARD OPLIS KOGER ---Willard Oplis Koger, 66, of Elmer, died unexpectedly at his home north of Elmer Sunday night of an apparent heart attack. ---The son of William Anderson and Luella (Keyte) Koger, he was born near Elmer on February 13, 1899. On August 4, 1926 he was married to Opal Huffman of Kirksville and to this union four children were born. ---Surviving are his wife; one son, Willard L. of Alexis, Illinois; three daughters, Peggy Taylor of Mediapolis, Iowa, Cressie Strausbaugh of Burlington, Iowa and Phyliss Koger of Elmer; one sister, Velma Ross of Ethel and several nieces and nephews, including Lemant Freeman of Cedar City, Utah, who was reared in the Koger home. ---He was preceded in death by one half-sister and two brothers. ---Mrs. Koger had spent most of his life in the vicinity of Elmer where he had engaged in farming. For eleven years he resided in Burlington, Iowa where he was employed as a vault maker before his retirement in 1964. ---He was a member of the Elmer Assembly of God Church. ---Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in the Elmer Assembly of God Church with Rev. C.O. Templeton, Pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in the Bell Cemetery west of Elmer under the direction of the McCollum Funeral Home of South Gifford. ---Bearers were Archie Helton, Eugene Helton, Johnnie Thompson, Herman Koger, John Ratliff and Russell Knotts.
