Clay came to Minnesota in 1853, 5 years before Minnesota became a state. In 1860, Abraham Lincoln became President. In the 1870 census, his name was spelled Claybourn. In the 1880 census, he lived in Wilson Mn, with his wife Sarah "Josephine" Church McNally. Clay and Josephine had 4 children. Clay died at age 51, then Josephine married Clay's brother, Franklin, 1 year later. Clayborn was the 10th and youngest child of Uriah Parker McAnally. He married Sarah Josephine Church in July of 1879. He had 4 children: William Henry McNally Sr, Franklin Pulaski McNally, Charles Albert (Shorty) McNally, and Catherine Ann (Kate) McNally.
