"Franklin McNally was born August 27,1847 in DeKalb County Indiana and died August 7, 1921 in Pickwick at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was the last member of a family of 10 children. At the age of 8 years, he moved with his parents Uriah P. and Elizabeth McNally to Houston County Minnesota and later to Winona County where the remainder of his life was spent. Franklin McNally and Caroline LaVigne were married November 2, 1873. Six children who were born of this union, three of whom died in infancy. The surviving children are Edward B. of Winona, Leonard C. of West Chicago, and Mrs. Lloyd Harvey of Pickwick with whom he made his home. There are also five grandchildren. His wife predeceased him 24 years ago, having died July 25, 1897. For many years, the family lived on a farm near Ashton, owned and operated by Mr. McNally. About 10 years ago, he sold his farm and the time since was spent in Pickwick and this vicinity with his daughter. Mr. McNally of Winona County who underwent the hardships of early days. They cleared the land for their farms, cut the timber for her homes, and blazed the trail for the next generation. He lived and died among the friends with whom he had mingled for a lifetime. Funeral services were held Monday at the Pickwick church and interment was made in the Busch cemetery. Rev. W. E. Thompson of LaCrescent officiated. The relatives of away who attended the funeral were Leonard McNally of West Chicago, Mr. & Mrs. Edward McNally, Mrs. Edward Grant, Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Harvey of Winona, Mrs. Elsworth Whitlock, Mrs. Perry Whitlock, Fred Holliday and daughter Hokah, Mrs. Leo McCarthy, Miss Katherine LaVigne and Miss Katherine Perkins of LaCrosse, Mr & Mrs William Gilmore of Red Wing, Hugh McNally and son Robert of Homer, Mr & Mrs F MacGregor of LaMoille, William Harvey and family, and Hugh McNally of Ashton."
