State Line Tribune – Nov. 5, 1999 – Page 2 A. B. BELL Funeral services for A. B. Bell, 93, of Portales, were held on Nov. 1 at Steed-Todd Chapel with the Rev. Bob Brown, assisted by Carl Britton and Wayne Johnson. Burial was at Texico Cemetery. He died Oct. 28 at Clovis hospital. He was born March 3, 1906, in Evansville, Ind. He married Ethelene Hines in Farwell, on Jan. 16, 1934. He was a long-time resident of Texico, retiring from Texico Schools in 1971. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Texico. Surviving are his wife, 1 son, Weldon, of Loveland, Colo.; 4 daughters, Mary Catherine McDermott, Carol Martin, Darlene Simpson, and Marlene Ford, all of Portales; 2 brothers, Fud Bell of Clovis, and Ray Bell of Ranchvale; 1 sister, Wilma Smith of Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, 2200 S. Ave. I, Portales.
