Bio

Mrs. William B. Smith, the former Clara McNulty, who died following a car collision near Lincoln Ne. last Saturday (Dec. 9, 1944) was a daughter of James and Martha McNulty, early pioneers of Washington County. Mr. McNulty being the first white settler of that county. She was born at the farm home near Morrowville, Kans. Oct. 4, 1885, she and her twin brother Harry being the youngest of the family of eight children. She spent her entire life in Washington County. At the time of her death, she had reached the age of 59 years, 2 months and 5 days. Following Mr. and Mrs. Smith's marriage they lived for a time on a farm, but for over 20 years have lived in Washington, Kans. Three daughters were born, Wilma, LaVera and LaVerna, the latter two being twins. LaVerna married Albert Lintz, who is in the service and at present somewhere in the Pacific area. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Lintz of Fairbury, Nebr. A year ago last August at the time Albert Lintz was home on a furlough Mrs. Lintz died following a brief illness (polio). They have one little daughter, Roxanne Sue and while Mr. Lintz is gone the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Smith were caring for the little girl. Surviving Mrs. Smith are her husband, the two daughters, Mrs. LaVera Augustus, Washington, Mrs. Ross Frager, Kansas City, three grandsons and the one granddaughter. She also leaves her brother, Cornelius McNulty, Washing; John of Atkinson, Nebr; Chas. of Long Beach Calif; Willis of Caladonia, Mich; Harry of Clarinda, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Jason Davis of Fairbury, Nebraska. Funeral services were held at Washington Wednesday afternoon and burial in the Washington cemetery
