Haley Clarke Strickland, 87, passed from this life Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Skipper Strickland, Jeff Strickland, Todd Allen, Marty Strickland, Lane Strickland and Rowdy Allen. Haley was born May 18, 1921, in LaSalle to Tom and Maud Clarke. She lived her early life in Munday and later moved to Fort Worth. Haley married her childhood sweetheart, Orivle Strickland, in 1939. She was a faithful member of Castleberry Church of Christ for close to 60 years; she taught Sunday school for over 30 of those years. Haley was a stay-at-home mother to her children and bravely manned the task alone while Orivle was away at war. She was a devoted mother to an active family, never missing a ball game, recital or church service. She was a seamstress, cook, chauffeur and, in all of these things, a loving teacher. Haley was a charter member of a bridge group, composed of dear friends, that began in the late 1950s. She belonged to a birthday club and enjoyed reunions with her schoolmates of the class of 1939. Of all the activities she was a part of, her favorite pastime was being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We all rise up to call her blessed. Haley was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and her beloved husband, Orivle. Survivors: Children, Lynn Strickland and wife, Saundra, of Willow Park, Gerry Tittle and husband, Randy, of Cleburne and Ron Strickland and wife, Stacie of Richmond; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Rachel Robertson; brother-in-law, Earl Senter; and many nieces and nephews.
