Peace, Martha Sue HAWKINS - Services for Martha Sue Peace, 79, Hawkins, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Hawkins. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery, Rockwall, under direction of Beaty Funeral Home, Hawkins. Mrs. Peace died Oct. 7, 2008, at a Tyler hospice. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, to the late Joseph and Ethel DeWees and grew up in Rockwall. She was a homemaker until 1960 when she entered Howard Payne University and earned master's degree in 1971. She was a school librarian until she retired in 1988, and moved to Hawkins in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hawkins, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution where she was a past regent of Elizabeth Denton English Chapter and a charter member, past regent, and honorary regent of the John Hogg Sr. Chapter. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dr. Herman Lee Peace; sons, Herman Lee Peace Jr. and Dr. Michael Christopher Peace; daughter, Susan Gayle Fitzgerald; sisters, Doris Blackburn, Imogene Duke and Sara Bob Gaston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
