Bio
Edward August Polasek Sr., a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at 4:28 p.m. in the Southeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He was born April 26, 1942, to August E. and Agnes Chilek Polasek in Wilson County. He graduated from Floresville High School as a member of the class of 1961. Edward married Edna Woitena on March 26, 1966, in St. Ann's Catholic Church in La Vernia. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, and a member of the K.J.T., a fraternal organization. A welder and mechanic with Rush Truck Center in San Antonio, Edward enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and pecan trees, and was an avid collector of arrowheads, coins, ball caps, and pins. He especially loved his grandchildren. His father, August E. Polasek, preceded him in death on April 11, 2006. Edward is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Edna Polasek of Floresville; sons Edward A. Polasek Jr. and wife Darla of Rixeyville, Va., and Mike Polasek and wife Marion of Wichita, Kan.; his mother, Agnes Polasek of Floresville; grandchildren Zachariah Polasek, Micaela Polasek, Jessica Polasek, and Michael Allen Polasek; brothers James Polasek and wife Elaine and Robert Polasek and wife Lillian, all of Floresville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville officiated by Madeline Polasek. A funeral Mass was celebrated at noon on Monday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with Father Janusz Barczyk as celebrant. Musical selections were provided by Carol Zidek and Peter Kane. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Polasek, Ray Polasek, Robert Polasek, Gary Stanush, Tony Svoboda, and Albert Chilek.
