Wife: Ada Pearl "Sandy" (Medlin) Askins Married: 03/18/1922, Hamilton County, TX, Hamilton County Marriage Record Bk. 8, p. 225 Parents: Charlie Askins & Laney Pullins ASKINS, CECIL CLAUD Hamilton Herald News October 1, 1964 Claud Askins Succumbs, Rites Held Sept. 27th Cecil Claud Askins, 74, died suddenly at his home at 638 East Standifer, in Hamilton last Friday, Sept. 25. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Blansit at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Riley Funeral Chapel. He was born April 22,1 890 in McMullen County, Texas, the son of Charlie and Laney Pullins Askins. He was married on April 18, 1921 to Ada P. Medlin [**see note below**] He was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War I. He was a rock mason by trade. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ralf Kerley, Canoga Park, California, Mrs. Melvin Menzdorf of Waco,; four sons, Virgil and R. L. Askins of Fort Worth, Cecil E. Askins of Dallas and Thomas C. Askins of Hamilton; one sister, Mrs. L. A. Martin of San Antonio; one brother, Tom Askins of Hamilton; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were E. C. Brewster, Walter Wendland, Syl Dyer, Bill Short, Gene Christian and Jack Moran. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery and the Riley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
