Bio
Funeral services for James Thomas Parks, 73, of Longview, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, with the Reverend David Nix officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Knights of Honor Cemetery of Blossom, Texas. He passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at a medical center in Longview. Mr. Parks was born March 11, 1935, in Paris, Texas, to Thomas Ato and Willie Parks, and he grew up there. He served in the U.S. Army and then began his career in law enforcement with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. Later, he served with the Longview Police Department. In January of 1989, he was elected to the office of Gregg County Constable, Precinct Two, and retired in December of 2000. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eola Ann Parks; and his brother, Theron Parks. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Brett Thomas Parks and wife, Hannah of Gilmer, and Brian Hamilton Parks of Longview; and his brother, Donald Parks of Blossom.
