Bio
Georgia Bryan Newton departed this life on Sept. 7, 2008. She was born Feb. 20, 1913, in Avery, to W.G. and Willie Ingram Bryan. Georgia attended Avery and Atlanta, Texas, schools and Texas Tech. She married John C. Newton on Feb. 20, 1938; he preceded her in death on April 13, 2005. Georgia moved from Tulsa, Okla., to the Liberty Community in 1953. She was a full time homemaker and a member of the Idalou Methodist Church Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rita Marie Kelley and husband Gerald of Abernathy; one son, John Charles Newton III and wife Betty of Arlington; her two sisters, Gracie Lee Schubert of Monterey Park, Calif., and Dorothy Belle Warthan of Sheridan; her grandchildren, Amanda Rader and husband Randy of Yukon, Okla., and Matt Kelley and wife Laura of Plainview; her great-grandchildren, Haley, Zane, Rhyan Rader and Hannah and Seth Kelley. Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at the Idalou Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Idalou.
