The Columbus Daily Telegram, July 11, 1955 KLUG--Herman Klug, 81, dies; funeral services Tuesday Herman Klug, 81, 1856 22nd avenue, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the Lutheran hospital. Mr. Klug, who had been hospitalized for one week, was in failing health since April of 1954. Funeral services will be held at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Gass Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church, Shell Creek, with the Rev. Leo S. LaFontaine officiating. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral Home until the hour of service. Mr. Klug was born March 4, 1874, in Abstagen, Germany the son of Carl and Sophia Peters Klug. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. Mr. Klug came to the United States in 1898, and settled in Colfax county. On Jan. 30, 1902, he was married to Anna Klug at the home of her parents. The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1952. They farmed in Colfax county until 1949, at which time they retired and moved to Columbus. He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran church, Shell Creek, and served as treasurer for 18 years. He also served as treasurer of Dist. 8, Colfax county for 25 years. Mr. Klug is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Charlotte) Kasper, Columbus; three sons, Werner, Paul and Clemens of Richland; and seven grandchildren. His parents, five sisters and four brothers and one grandson preceded him in death. The family requests no flowers. Find A Grave contributor Don
