Bio

Cleo Kemp, 88, of Melissa, Texas, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2002. He was born August 19, 1914, in Anna, Texas, the son of George Washington Kemp and Rosa Loftice Kemp. He served in the Army and was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge, where he received a Purple Heart, Congressional Medal of Honor, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, with 5 Bronze Service Stars, and Good Conduct Medal. Upon returning from the war, he married Lorene Wilson on April 14, 1951. He was a carpenter by trade and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, 6 brothers, and 2 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorene Kemp; grandchildren, Allison and Stephen Frizzell who knew him as "Pa"; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM November 24, 2002, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Brother Morgan Malone and Brother Trey Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Garhard Deffner, Ron Pittman, Chris Price, Clay Price, David Kemp, and Scott Collins.
