Bio
Gottfried came to Germany in 1893 with his sons family. (The August Herms family) A short death notice was in the "Butler County Press" as follows: Grandpa Herms died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the home of his grandson,August Herms, near Ware. The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday, Feb. 1, and were conducted by Rev. L. R. DeWolf of the Methodist church, David City. Interment was in the Ware Cemetery.
