Bio
Joyce was the daughter of Van Alexander McCollough and Mary Melinda Leora Key. She married Norman Harrell Harris on February 14, 1943 and had two children, Larry Allan Harris and Marsha Laraine Thomas. She married second Don L. Havens on January 15, 1961 She has one sister, Verna Sue Hardin. OBIT: Joyce V. McCollough Havens Funeral services for Joyce Vanette McCollough Harris Havens, 74, are set for 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church of Childress with the Rev. Jim McCurley, pastor, officiating She died Saturday. Interment will be in the Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Born Aug 20, 1924 in the Kirkland community, Mrs. Havens was the daughter of Van and Leora Key McCullough, a pioneer Childress County family. She attended schools in Goodlett, graduating from Kirkland High School in 1941. On Feb 10, 1949, she began employment as a secretary with the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad which later became Burlington Northern. After working in Childress, she was promoted to Childress office manager, later transferring to Overland Park, Kan as a supervisor of records. Seven months later, she transferred to Fort worth as supervisor of records. She retired Jan 1, 1986 and returned to Childress. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Childress, former member of Le Atelier Club, was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, serving as its president for two years and she had membership in the Burlington Northern Club. She and her husband, Don L. Havens were married Jan 15, 1961 in Childress. Survivors include a son, Larry A. Harris, and wife, Karen, of Amarillo, a daughter, Marsha Harris Thomas, and husband, Jerry, of Rockwall, grandchildren Stacey Harris King and husband, Randy, of Russellville, Ark; Shelley Harris Ptak and husband Mike, of Bessie, OK, Charles W. Vandiver II and wife, Beth, of Rockwall, and Melynda M. Vandiver of Dallas; great grandchildren, Alison King of Russellville, Ark, Lauren and Austin Vandiver of Rockwall and Jayden and Cyera Vandiver of Dallas, step-great-granddaughter Mickael and Danielle Ptak of Bessie. ans a sister, Sue McCollough Hardin, of Amarillo..
