Danny James Jurica was born in Ennis, Texas on June 8, 1949 to Frank, Sr. and Frances (Vavra) Jurica. He grew up in Ennis and earned his GED in the US Army. He was drafted into the US Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. He was stationed in South Korea where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Expert Badge for the M-16 Rifle and the Marksman Badge for the M-14 Rifle. On May 20, 1972, Danny married the love of his life, Margie Slovak and they made their home in Ennis. Danny worked as an industrial maintenance technician and mechanic for many years at various employers retiring from Owens Corning in 2012. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping, and collecting and shooting guns. Danny built his own smoker and was a BBQ master, barbequing for family functions while enjoying a few cold ones over some horseshoes. He was a man of the earth who never tired of working his land and mowing on his tractors. He was a jack of all trades who could build or fix anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. His happy place was the water – his tank, the lake or the ocean. He was playful and fun and always made others laugh with his sharp wit. Lastly, he loved his family fiercely and was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren. His wife and his family were the joys of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank, Sr. and Frances Jurica; sister, Fran Little; and brother, Frank Jurica, Jr. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery
