Kathryn Jackson, 88, died on August 9, 2008 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home from natural causes. She was born on June 30, 1920, in Gillette, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen (Wetzel) Rourke. She was raised on the family farm and educated in Gillette, graduating from Campbell County High School in 1937. After graduation she attended Ottumwa Heights College in Ottumwa, Iowa. She married Howard R. Hardy on Sept.10, 1938, in Lead, S.D. The couple made their home in Gillette. She was a homemaker and worked at the Campbell County Treasurers office. She loved spending time with her family and working in her yard. She took pride in earning "Yard of the Week." She was a beautiful seamstress and crocheted several afghans and doilies, never sitting idle. She enjoyed her sewing club and playing bridge with her friends. She never refused a cookie. Her favorite past times were watching the Denver Broncos and spending time at Keyhole with her family. She was a lifetime member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and belonged to St. Ann's Alter and Rosary Society. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Larry Hardy of Pine Haven, and Bob Hardy of Gillette; daughters and their spouses, Kathleen Lohmann of Westminster, Colo., and Donna Rae Hardy of Pine Haven; brother, Paul Rourke of Gillette; sisters, Viono Lane of Gillette, and Bonnie Wenande of Oshoto; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Bernard Rourke and Bob Rourke and one niece. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Pisgah cemetery.
