Bio
Jean Medina (Arland), formerly of Torrington, passed away at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne on Jan. 24, 2013 after an extended illness. Jean was born to Warren Dwayne Arland and Marlyn Marie (McCabe) Arland on June 16, 1948. She attended primary and secondary school in Walla Walla, Wash. and lived in Walla Walla when she relocated her family to Torrington in 1984. Jean spent many years taking care of her own children and working as a child care provider. She went to college and earned her bachelor of psychology degree from the University of Wyoming in May of 2000 after 13 years, all the while raising nine children. She worked for several years as a case manager at Diversified Services Incorporated and later worked for the State of Nebraska as a case manager for them. She later started her own business, Abilities Unlimited, based in Lingle, and served as an independent service coordinator. She worked selflessly to help individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries to obtain daily living skills needed to become as independent as possible. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, writing poetry, biking, visiting Deadwood and reading. Jean's parting will leave a hole in the hearts of many. She will be greatly missed by her five children: Chuck (Brenda) Bloom, Wheatland; Kevin (Jan) Bloom, Spearfish, S.D.; Dan Bloom, Douglas; Jennifer (Randy) Peterson, Lingle; and Michael Baher, Lingle. She is also survived by one brother, Dave (Diana) Arland of Torrington. In addition, she will also be greatly missed by her numerous grandchildren and close friends and extended family.
