Bio

Raymond C. Smith, 77, of Litchfield, died Friday, February 9, 1996, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Ralph Erts officiating. Burial will be at Litchfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Memorials are suggested to the church. Rasmussen Mortuary of Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. He was born June 23, 1918, to Carl and Mary (Hyslop) Smith in Litchfield and was educated at Litchfield High School. On March 30, 1940, he married Ruby Anne Linden in Kearney. The couple lived on a farm northeast of Mason City until moving to Dunning. They were employed there at Shinn Turkey Ranch. In 1983, they retired to Litchfield. He was a member of the church and the Oddfellows Lodge in Westerville. Survivors include his wife, Litchfield; daughter Marlene Smith, Oakdale; sisters, Ruth Chance, Pottery, Texas, Dorothy Nickman, Kearney, Ruby Trotter, Broken Bow, and Mildred Muhlbach, Cairo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
