There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM on Thursday, at the church. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Carolyn Jean Kasper was born on July 29, 1937, at her grandparents' house in rural Platte County to Leonhard A. and W. Berniece (Lake) Hollmann. Carrie was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Johns Church in Leigh, Nebraska. She later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Carrie grew up on a farm north of Columbus, which enabled her to acquire many skills. Some of these skills included taking care of animals, especially the chickens, helping with the garden, and as she got older, general farm work. She worked alongside her father planting and harvesting. She also learned how to butcher animals and how to can meat and vegetables from the garden. Carrie went to District 77 rural school through eight grade. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1955. During high school she worked in different homes, as well as in theatres, to earn her room and board to enable her to get her education. After graduation Carrie went to work at Montgomery Wards for three years. She then went to work for Becton Dickinson for the next 41 years, working in the accounting department at the time of her retirement. On September 9, 1956, Carrie was united in marriage to Rolland O. Kasper at St. John's Lutheran Church in Leigh. They lived in the Columbus area for the first couple years of their marriage prior to moving to Bellwood. To their union three children were born, Mitchell A., Sylvia J., and Michael L. The children were active in 4-H, so they had horses to occupy their time and take care of. Carrie enjoyed watching her children's sporting events, theatre productions (which Carrie helped with directing), and band concerts and events. Carrie enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables for her family. The family especially enjoyed her potatoes, apple butter and jelly, and wild plum preserves. After retirement Carrie did daycare for two years, volunteered at the local school, and helped out in the nursery at Trinity. She was a member of Pawnee REACT locally and active in the state REACT Council for over 40 years.
