A memorial service for Frank Leon Sawyer, Sr. will be 2 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Rev. Tommy Williams will officiate. Frank passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008. He was 84. Born June 16, 1924, in Smithville, Texas to Joseph and Millie (Farris) Sawyer, Frank was reared and educated in his birth community. He served in the US Army during World War II. Frank married Vivian Louise Pettigrew on June 3rd, 1950. His most recent employment was in machine maintenance and operation with Anadit Company from which he retired in 1983. Frank was a member of the DAV and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Worth and Church at Claremore. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and enjoying time spent with Vivian. Those family members who survive include his wife, Vivian, of their home in Claremore; son, Frank Sawyer, Jr., also of Claremore; grandchildren Alicia Sawyer of Bixby, Alan Sawyer of Claremore, and Melanie Sawyer of Owasso; great grandchildren Tara Collins and Emma Bennett, both of Bixby; brother Henry Sawyer of Ft. Worth; and sisters, Dorothy Fiebig of Holland, Texas and Ethel Zimmerhanzel of Ft. Worth. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Woodrow and Herbert Sawyer, and sisters Mozell Burnes and Ruth Sawyer. Friends may view Frank's online tribute at ricefuneralservice.com.
