Bio

Rudolph Donald "Don" Psota, 81, of North Loup passed away peacefully and returned to his eternal home on Friday, October 24, 2025, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska following a lengthy illness. Don was born March 23, 1944, at Ord, Nebraska, the third child born to Rudolph E. and Anna (Bruha) Psota. He attended rural schools in Valley County and graduated from Ord High School in 1962. While in school, he was a member of Ord FFA and received his State and National Degrees. At age 14, Don's father Rudolph E. passed away, following that Don and his mother continued to maintain the family farm where they raised Polled Hereford cattle and bulls. On May 30, 1987, Don married the love of his life, Sandra L. Spilinek of Elba at the Ord First United Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with one son, Ryan. Don's greatest passion was working on the family farm and raising his cattle. His favorite pastimes were listening to Polka music, attending Polka festivals and videoing Polka bands. He enjoyed playing games including connect four, checkers, and spinner dominoes. One of his greatest thrills was traveling to the Czech Republic and meeting relatives. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sandra Psota of North Loup; son, Ryan Psota of North Loup and his fiancée, Sarah Tetschner of Burwell; step-grandson, Kaleb Kloppenborg of Burwell; Sarah's mother, Sherry Tetschner of Burwell; brother-in-law, Clayton Spilinek of Doniphan; sister-in-law, Charlene Psota of Ord; nephews, James Psota, Roger, Lyle, and Alan Cahill; niece, Janice Brown; and many friends, cousins and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon Psota; sister, Rose Cahill; niece, Sandy J. Psota; parents-in-law, Clayton and Rachel Spilinek; and brother-in-Law, Henry Spilinek. Don will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor Josiah Mono will officiate. Interment will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery at Ord, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
