Earl W. Oaks Rites Tuesday- (obit given from funeral home) Earl William Oaks, 61, of Rural Route, Veteran died July 28 in the Torrington Memorial Hospital. He was born September 14, 1905 in Albert County, Colorado. He had been a resident of Veteran for 41 years and was employed by the Sunrise mind as an elevator operator. On March 18, 1929, he married (Julia Pearl Cochran) in Gering, Nebraska. Survivors include his wife, Julia; mother, Fannie (Plant) Oaks of Vale, Oregon; sons Charles W. Oaks of Okinawa, Jack E. Oaks of Rawlins, Jimmie R. Oaks of Arlington, VA, Bobbie L. Oaks of Veteran, Randy L. Oaks of Veteran; daughters, Betty Brown of Lingle, Gwendolyn L. Griffis of Alliance, Nebraska, and Dotty L. Lewis of St. Francis, Kansas; brothers Ralph Oaks of Torrington and Harvey Oaks of Vale, Oregon; sister Dorothy McClure of Torrington; thirteen grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, August 1, at 2:00 at the Lingle Presbyterian church with Rev. Paul O Mayer as officiating minister. Burial will be at Hill Crest Cemetery. Arrangements by Hogg Funeral Chapel of Torrington.
