Alan Bradley Holz was born on January 28, 1963 to Fritz and Jean (Fahrenholz) Holz in O'Neill, Nebraska. Alan grew up in O'Neill and graduated from O'Neill High School in 1981. Over the years, he worked at the cheese factory in Orchard, with Musil Construction, Christensen Farms, and later Musil Concrete. He was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to put in a hard day's work, something he carried with him throughout his life. Alan was free-spirited at heart. He was artistic and creative, with a natural talent for free-hand drawing. He often turned discarded items into unique works of art and had an eye for beauty where others didn't - whether in the rocks and crystals he loved to hunt, the birds and butterflies he admired, or in the small details of life most would overlook. He enjoyed fishing, fixing things, tinkering, and was always ready to take something apart just to figure out how it worked. He always had a dog by his side and treasured their companionship. Music was a constant in his life, with classic bands like CCR often playing while he drove around just to enjoy the ride. He had a mischievous streak, a quick wit, and a way of keeping life interesting. Alan valued real connection - he had no patience for phones getting in the way of a good conversation. He was a loyal and caring friend, the kind of person you could count on to listen or to show up when you needed him. Alan's life was one of grit, creativity, and heart. He will be remembered for his hard work, his imagination, his love for the simple things, and his loyalty to those he loved. Alan is survived by his daughter, Hanna Mayhew of Fremont, Nebraska; three grandsons, Klinton, Brock and Erich, Jr.; two sisters, Vicki Earley of O'Neill, Carolyn (Roy) Carr of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Russ (Joanie) Holz, Terry (Julie) Holz, of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Francis "Fritz" and Jean Holz; infant sister; sister, Connie Holz; brother in law, Tom Earley.
