Bio
Betty Jo Scott was born on May 24, 1936, in La Poyner, Texas, to Joe Casey Pagitt and Eva Blanche Pagitt. She was the second oldest to five sisters and two brothers. When she was in high school, her and her family moved to Dallas, where she would play basketball until she graduated. She then went to work, in Dallas, and learned how to key punch. She loved to go to the "It'll Do" club to dance with her sister, where she met her husband, Troy Scott, whom she called Scottie. They were married in 1958, the same year she went to work in bookkeeping at the State Fair of Texas. After Betty and Scottie had their two sons, she went to work at Christian School. Betty would lose the love of her life in her 40's, then go to work for the General Baptist Convention as a bookkeeper. After she retired, she worked at the Tom Landry Center watching kids and later in life worked as a crossing guard. She loved Jesus more than anything and had a vast knowledge of the bible. She taught Sunday School until about 10 years ago, due to her memory. She only wanted to meet Jesus and to make sure her family would join her one day. Betty loved sewing, being around children and driving. She had a caring heart and would help take her friends to appointments. The visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, in the Memorial Chapel of Restland Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00pm, where the Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm, followed by the interment in Restland Cemetery.
