Bio
Charlotte was born in California and died in San Francisco, CA. She is the daughter of Samuel and Mary D. Mankins. The 1900 census shows there were 5 children living in Township 5, Lassen, California. Charlotte's mother had 8 children born and 8 still living. At the time of the census, Mary was a widow, I did some cross checking and it appears the other three children were boys, as found on the 1870 census. They are Samuel, David and General Lee. Charlotte (aka Lottie as shown on the 1900 census) married Arthur Jackson Rankin Sr. (1878-1972) sometime before the birth of their Arthur Jackson, Jr. in 1914. Her son died on May 13, 1985 in Yolo County, CA From the San Francisco Examiner, Saturday, June 5, 1976, page 13: "RANKIN, Charlotte B. - In san Francisco, June 3, 1976, Charlotte B. Rankin, beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Rankin; loving mother of the Arthur J. Rankin, Jr. of San Francisco; grandmother of Arthur J. Rankin, III of Citrus Heights, California and many other grandchildren and relatives; sister of Grace Johnson of Piedmont; a native of California; aged 88 years. Services were held June 4, 1976 at Olivet Memorial Park. Arrangements under the Direction of Nauman & Lincoln Mortuary, 322 Maple Ave. South San Francisco.
