Dennis Leo Swanda, age 88, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on August 22, 2025. Born on April 11, 1937, in Brainard, NE, Dennis was the son of Methodious and Agnes (Helman) Swanda. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Brainard High School before continuing his education at the University of Nebraska. Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army at the Siegelsbach Army Depot in Germany. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a mechanical sales engineer with Nebraska Boiler Company and Deltak Boiler Company in Minneapolis, MN. His work took him across the United States and to several parts of the world. On August 29, 1959, Dennis married Janet (Slama) at St. Anthony Church in Columbus, NE. Together they shared a life filled with love and dedication. An avid fly fisherman, Dennis found peace casting lines in streams and rivers across many states. When not fishing, he enjoyed tying flies and playing or watching golf. Known for his resourcefulness, he was an exceptional handyman who could fix or create nearly anything. Dennis is preceded in death by his sons Greg and Steve; parents Methodious and Agnes Swanda; brothers Ken and Donald; and sisters La Verne Meister and Mary Lou Schott. He is survived by his wife Janet Swanda; daughter Suzanne (Swanda) and Jeff Stang; grandchildren Adam Swanda and Katie (Swanda) and Paul Racine; great-grandson Logan Racine; sister Maxine (Swanda) and Jerry Hain; niece Judy (Schott) and Brad Watson; grand-nieces Lindsey (Watson) and Jonathon Shaffer, Whitney Watson; great-grand-nephew Kash Shaffer; and many other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 5 p.m. on September 18, 2025, at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on September 19 at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, TX, with Fr. Larry Stehling officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Wayzata, MN.
