Sherry Kelly, 65 of Amherst, NE passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Goodwin officiating. Inurnment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Sherry Jean Kelly was born on February 26, 1960 in Grand Island, NE to John Robert and Marjorie (Hrebec) Kelly. She grew up in Kearney, NE with her siblings Rita and Bobby. She attended both Kearney Catholic and Kearney High Schools. She was full of love and light. Sherry cherished her family and friends. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved them immensely. She lived her life exactly the way she wanted, full of color and excitement. She enjoyed playing cards, family gatherings and taking in nature's beauty. Her favorite things were dancing and listening to music with a drink in one hand and a smoke in the other. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Briean (Keith) Dragoo of Greenwood, NE, Kassidy (Ryan) Hurlbutt of Kearney, Zach Steele of Kearney, and Token (Matt) Brown of Kearney; brother, Bobby (Cindy) Kelly; nephew, Justin Kelly; niece, Kelsey Kelly all of Kearney; 16 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and her end of life partner, Ron Shields of Amherst. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Bob Kelly and Marjorie Buresh; and her sister, Rita Kelly.
