"Jeannie" Gladys Jean Roach Farrington ~ Heaven is a little brighter today, July 16, 1999, the day of the passing of our mom, Jeannie. Gladys Jean Roach Fitzgerald Farrington, 79, was born in Burley, Idaho, December 4, 1919 to William Walter and Jenny Fox Roach. She was raised in Midvale and attended Jordan High School, moving to Tooele in the early 1940's. She married Ellis Fitzgerald (25 Mar 1940 Farmington, Davis Co., UT.), later divorced. Married Cal Farrington, (16 Apr 1946 ~ Salt Lake City, UT.), later divorced. Jeannie was a member of the LDS Church serving in a number of capacities. She was a founding member of the Tooele Bit and Spur Riding Club and an avid horsewoman. Although she held many jobs through the years, her favorite was driving the school bus. Jeannie was the first woman to drive a school bus in the state of Utah. She took the responsibility of keeping "her" kids safe very seriously. She was retired from both the State and Federal governments. Up until the time of her illness, she was a volunteer at the LDS Hosital Gift Shop. She is survived by her "five Girls", Kay (Larry) Shubert, Claudia (Frank) Reed, Jeannine (Laurie) Farrington, Dana Dee (John Siminich, "Bitzie" Smith; sister, Ruby Clark; sister-in-law, Madge Roach; 3 very special nieces and their families, Louise (Roger) Beck, Lois (Stewart) Francom and Sharon (Cletus) Hamilton; and truest friend, Naomi Smith and family. Her legacy included 18 grandchildren, 11 1/2 great-grandchildren ... Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 So. Main St., Tooele. Friends may call at the Mortuary on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior on Wednesday. Interment in Tooele City Cemetery.
