Bio

Mrs. Lyda Mae Whitaker, 92, New Hope, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She funeral will be Friday at the New Hope Funeral Home chapel with burial in the New Hope Cemetery. Survivors include one grandson, Billy Colburn of New Hope; and one great-granddaughter, Angele Colburn of New Hope. (Published Huntsville Times, Huntsville, AL, Thursday, Nov. 26, 1992) Married Richard F. Birchfield on December 10, 1918, Madison Co, AL (License date) After Richard's death, she married Emmett Cromwell Whitaker in 1937. Note: the family used different spelling of McCowan/McCown within the family.
