Published in The Huntsville Times, Huntsville, AL, Friday, July 13, 1962. A funeral for Cleo Leon McCowan, 48, of New Hope, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church in New Hope. Mr. McCowan died yesterday at his home from a heart attack. Rev. J. E. Jones will officiate and burial will be in Hayden Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Oma McCowan; three sons, Ted McCowan and Taylor McCowan, both of Huntsville, and Joe McCowan of New Hope; five brothers, Weirner McCowan of Mississippi, Carl McCowan, New Hope, Joe Ben McCowan, Gurley, Willie McCowan, Owens Cross Roads, and James McCowan, Texas; a sister, Mrs. E.C. [Lyda] Whitaker, New Hope. Butler Brothers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Note: Family used various spelling of McCowan/McCown
