Bio

A memorial service for Nadine M. Peters, 69, of Largo, Florida, formerly of Battle Creek, NE will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, August 4, 2025 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Pastor Greg Rathke. There is no burial at this time. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, Sunday, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Nadine passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from pancreatic cancer at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. Nadine was born March 19, 1956 in Norfolk to Fred and Mary (Hinesh) Heller. Nadine was the proud granddaughter of Louis and Ada (Tomhagen) Heller and Emil and Barbara (Silhacek) Hinesh. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She attended Pierce Elementary School graduating from Pierce High School in 1974. Nadine married Terry Peters on May 15, 1976 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Before children, Terry and Nadine traveled many places and had many stories of their excursions. The couple were members of card club and Nadine was on a bowling league. Nadine worked at Allied Tour and Travel, Norfolk Iron and Metal, Tyco Medical Products, Custom Sports, and Lutheran High Northeast. When Nadine retired, she volunteered her time with the Battle Creek Wrestling Club, 4-H Club Leader, Madison County Fair Board Member, Little Eagle Wrestling Club, Festmahl, and the LHNE Beef Blast. After Terry's passing, Nadine moved to Largo, FL. Her body loved the heat and humidity. She quickly became involved in many aspects of her community, Paradise Island. She was the President of the Social Committee, Admin of the Community Facebook Page, Craft Fair Chair, Thanksgiving Dinner Coordinator. Nadine also organized and distributed the Paradise Island Community Phone Book, assisted with the community flea market, and was an informal tech person to many people in the park. Nadine had many hobbies: sewing, crafting, she especially loved to paint barn quilt square signs, and spending time in her large garden while living in Nebraska. She was really a jack of all trades, she was never afraid to help out, no job was too big or small. If she didn't know how to do it, she would find a way to either learn it herself or find the right person for the job. Nadine is survived by her daughter Mary Beth (Aric) Butterfield of Wisner, son Jesse (Michelle) Peters of Elkhorn, four grandchildren Ada and Rex Butterfield, Raelyn and Cael Peters, brother Richard (Mary) Heller of Placerville, CA, sister-in-law Lynne Bridges of Largo, FL, brother-in-law Randy (Jule) Peters of Norfolk, sisters-in-law Kim Nelsen of Norfolk, Cindy (Mike) Reynoldson of Norfolk, and many nieces and nephews. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Terry Peters, parents Fred and Mary Heller, in-laws Leland and Lucille Peters, brother Lloyd Heller, sister-in-law Kathy Peters, and two nephews.
