Doris joined the world in the early morning on August 25, 1929, at the Ashley home on Mill Road in Emmett, ID. Her dad Raymond, mom Flora (Lee), and older brother Keith beamed over this beautiful girl. The family grew with the births of four brothers, Jack, Don, Bruce, and Dennis. Doris grew up in Emmett Valley with her boisterous brothers and family, making many lifelong friends along the way. Stories of Friday night baths in the irrigation ditch in the front yard, too many late-night trips to the outhouse with her mom, and coming and going from the house through a side window for several years because her dad had not installed a front door. Doris was the Sweetheart of the Cherry Blossom Festival for four years during her high school years. She graduated from Emmett High School in 1947 where she was Class Secretary and President of the choir. Doris and Orville Hanna married in 1949 and began our family, Rick came first followed by Suzanne, Mike, and Ron. Our young family moved to Boises North End to begin a new chapter of Moms journey. Doris and Monte Fry were married in 1963 which created a large, blended family of the Hanna kids and the Fry kids (Ron, Jan, and Jim). Mom and Monte settled the Hanna kids into a North End home near the Fry kids keeping everyone close. Mom juggled raising four kids with keeping an immaculate house and a jaw-dropping landscaped yard and flower beds. People passing by would stop and marvel at Moms beautiful roses and flowering red bud trees. Mom was the true matriarch of the family. The family grew from her four children to ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mom was our center of communication, keeping everyone up to date on family news and events. Everyone could call Grandma Doris to see how everyone in the family was doing. Mom attended all the life events of her treasured family; weddings, graduations, and was first to call when new births added members to her family.
