Bio
Sue Acree, 90, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Metcalfe Co. Health Care in Edmonton, KY with her loving family by her side. She was born in Edmonton, KY, on May 26, 1935, to the late James Robert and Virgie Kate Frogge Compton. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Acree in 2020. Mrs. Acree was a member of the Bellview Church of Christ, an avid reader, and a master gardener. She enjoyed studying plant and tree life, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include two children, Jill Harper (Dr. Robert Seay) of Edmonton, KY and Pete Acree (Ann) of Summer Shade, KY; eight grandchildren, Susan Barton, Cameron Saltsman (Shelly), Anne George (Gary), Peter Saltsman (Rose), Jonathan Acree (Laura), Laurell Garrett (Daniel), Virginia Grace Acree, and Robert Evan Acree (Kirby); 21 great grandchildren, 6 great -great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, Mary Froedge, Henry Compton, Kathleen Clemmons, Pauline Hughes Hodges, Sybil Grace Compton, Mattie Lundy, and Howard Compton; and two half-siblings, Florence Thompson and Marcum Compton. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, July 7, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 12:00-1:00 pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home.
