Genette Elaine Smiley Obituary March 12, 1942 — June 20, 2025 Genette Elaine Smiley, 83, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, June 20, 2025. She was born in Yuma, Colorado, the daughter of Delbert and Agnes Higgins Sigmon. She had a wonderful childhood growing up in Colorado. She graduated from the local High School. She married Richard E. Smiley on July 10, 1960, in Elbert, Colorado. Richard and Genette moved to Utah, where they raised their four children. Richard and Genette enjoyed 55 years together until his passing on March 18, 2016. Genette worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base after over 30 years of service. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Genette is survived by her children, Tim of Ogden, Jim (Shonna) of West Haven, Rick (Carmen) of Lehi, and Luwana of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Richard (Iona) of Yuma, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents; and sister, Janice Robinson. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 1 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd.
