Bio

Parents: John Matthew and Zilla Jones Bolt Services for Clayton A. Bolt, 85, Canton, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Nathan Hodge officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton. Mr. Bolt died December 15, 2007, at his residence. He was born June 9, 1922, in Wills Point to John Matthew and Zilla Jones Bolt. He grew up in the Hayden Community and attended school in Wills Point. He served in the Nave with the 46th division of the Sea Bees, during World War II. This was one of the first divisions formed. He was a member of the Wills Point Chapter of the VFW. He was a driver for Consolidated Freightways for 35 years. He also operated as a rancher in Missouri and Texas. He was the recipient of an honorary degree by the Future Farmers of America and designated King of the Vetch Growers Association. The state of Texas honored him with the Century Heritage designation for continuous operation of a family farm for more than 100 years. He was a Mason and a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton. Survivors include his wife of more than 45 years, Temple Bolt, Canton; stepdaughters, Charlotte Swindell, and husband Bill, Frisco, and Peggy Taylor, Canton; sister, Elizabeth Blasingame, Wills Point; grandchildren, Rodney Turner, Tammy Dunn, and husband Bret, Robert Golladay, and wife Tracy, and Chad Martin, and wife Suann; and great-grandchildren, Jake Dunn, Logan Martin, Chase Martin, Britney Golladay, Jacob Golladay and Jillian Holbrook. Pallbearers included Jake Dunn, Bret Dunn, Eric Bolt, Steve Bolt, Gary Bolt, Tracey Bolt, Robert Golladay and Chad Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Mize, Bill Swindell, Dr. John Turner and Jim Toon.
