James E. "Jim" Zikmund, of rural Ord passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska at the age of 81. Private family inurnment will be held at the Ord City Cemetery. A reception will be held at Jubilee in Ord, Nebraska on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. James E. was born March 20, 1944, at Ord, Nebraska to Emil and Lydia (Novotny) Zikmund. He was raised on the family farm north east of Ord where he attended rural country school. Jim graduated from Ord High School in 1962. Jim and Carloyn Kay Wells were united in marriage on June 6, 1965, at Ord, Nebraska. The couple settled on the Zikmund Farm northeast of Ord where they raised their family. Jim's life revolved around farming. He also raised cows and chickens and enjoyed his dogs. He was an avid fisherman. Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Akovi of Scotia, and Karin (Steve) Skopec of Stuart; five grandchildren, Heather Winter, Samanatha Bloom, Tony Hruza, Sarah Esterling and Christopher Bures; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn who passed away February 9, 2021; an infant daughter, Jamie Zikmund; and an infant twin brother.
