Bio

Major League Baseball Player. He played the outfield position for Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Colt 45's, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago Cubs from 1961 to 1966. Born Carl Wayne Warwick, he played baseball collegiately at Texas Christian University before signing a bonus contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers after his junior year. He went on to play in the Dodgers' farm system for several years before joining the main club in 1961. He played for the Dodgers for a short time before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals during the 1961 season. He was a member of the Cardinals for the rest of 1961 and an early part of the 1962 season before he was dealt to the expansion Houston Colt 45's. He played for the Colt 45's for the rest of the 1962 season and all of the 1963 season before rejoining the Cardinals in early 1964. He played for the Cardinals during their World Series-winning team that year and during the 1964 World Series, he set a record by reaching base in his first four plate appearances (three singles and one base on balls) as a pinch hitter. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in early 1965 and went on to play for both them and the Chicago Cubs before retiring from baseball after the 1966 season. During his Major League Baseball career, he collected 363 hits, including 51 doubles, ten triples, 31 home runs, and 149 RBI. After retiring from the game, he returned to Houston and operated real estate and travel agencies.
