Bio
Bobby Gene Lively, 91, of Bowie, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025. A graveside service will take place at the DFW National Cemetery on Friday, April 4th. There will be a family visitation at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas, on Thursday, April 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Bobby was born in Dallas, Texas, to J.C. and Beulah Lively. As a child, he was fascinated with airplanes, which led to a lifetime in aviation. It began with his service in the U.S. Navy, where he was trained as a naval aviator. He continued as a commercial airline pilot for Braniff International and finished as an instructor and inspector for the FAA. One summer while in college, he met the love of his life, Shirley Jo Wood, in Pampa, Texas, while working with a construction company building the church building where Shirley's family attended. They married in that building on March 5, 1955, and were married for 62 years before Shirley passed. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Suzan, Kristi, Steven, and Kevin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his daughter, Kristi Alexander, and his brother, Bill Lively. Bobby is survived by his children, Suzan and Kenton Holloway, Steven and Veda Lively, Kevin and Michelle Lively, brothers, Gerald and Peggy Lively, Larry and Sharron Lively; grandchildren, Scott and Sara Holloway, Shane and Rachael Holloway, Kendra and Jake Rainey, Megan Lively, Lindsay Lively, Kristen Lively, Nathan Lively, Beckham Anderson, Cambria Lively, Anistyn Lively; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the Carter Lake Road church of Christ Mission Fund, Bowie, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.
