" Betty J. Schneider passed away in Fredericksburg, TX on March 18, 2025. Betty was born Elizabeth Josephine in Ennis, Texas, on March 10, 1938, to Julius Bernard Kulhanek and Adela Marie Mazoch. She attended St. John's Catholic High School in Ennis and graduated from Texas Women's University with a Master's in Education. Betty Kulhanek married Helmuth H. Schneider, Jr. in Ennis, TX on December 30, 1966, at St. John's Catholic Church. They resided in New Braunfels until moving to Mesquite, TX in 1978 where they were parishioners of St. Pius X Catholic Church for many decades. Betty always prioritized family and dedicated her time and energy to raising her four children. Those days were filled with school and sports activities and ensuring we had all we needed. A recent cherished memory was celebrating Mom's 87th birthday where she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Together we all enjoyed stories, laughter and her favorite strawberry cake, a recipe passed down from her sister, Rose Marie Novy. Betty was a high school teacher for over 30 years. Her expertise was in Business Education where in the early years she taught shorthand and typing and ended her career teaching computer technology. Betty was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a sorority for women educators. She was elected to various local and state leadership positions and truly enjoyed time spent with her sorority sisters. Betty was also involved in the Ladies Society at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Betty and Helmuth had a love for traveling in the US and in Europe that they shared with their children. There are many treasured memories from the family travels together. Betty had a passion for photography and loved taking pictures during their travels to Yosemite, Grand Canyon, and Europe. She especially loved taking pictures of her grandchildren and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Helmuth, parents Julius and Adele Kulhanek, her brother Theodore Kulhanek and sister Rose Marie Novy. She is survived by her children: DeDe Threadgill, Pam Schneider, Janet Degenhardt and husband Hal, and Ronnie Schneider and wife Meghan; grandchildren, Bailey Wolberg and husband Jake, Riggs Threadgill, Della Threadgill, Drake Threadgill, Hal Degenhardt II, Will Degenhardt, Claire Schneider; and great-granddaughter, Lydia Wolberg. On Wednesday, March 26, the family will greet friends at 9:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30, followed by a Mass of Resurrection. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Arbor House for welcoming our mother into their community and hearts. We would also like to thank Methodist Hospice for their loving care. Private family graveside services and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery." (Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Schaetter Funeral Home.)
