Bio

Marlene Kay Morgan 71 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at her home. She was born March 1, 1953 in Columbus, NE to Lynton and Mila (Davis) Marty. Marlene grew up in Columbus, NE, she lived with her grandparents, Noah and Evalena Davis. She graduated from Columbus High School. She married Gerald "Jerry" C. Morgan March 28, 1972 in Yankton, SD. They moved to Longmont, CO In September 1973. They then bought a home in Windsor, CO in October of 1980 and moved to Fremont in 1988. Marlene ran a daycare at home when the kids were young, and decorated show homes for home developers in Colorado. She was a Girl Scout Leader, parent-teacher assistant, and volunteered for Relay For Life and was a volunteer grief counselor at funeral homes. She worked at Masonic Eastern Star Home For Children, ENCOR for Mental & Physical Individuals, and for Respite Care for the State of Nebraska. She wrote an unpublished book with the library of Congress 'Where does All The Love Go'. She also enjoyed music, especially Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks, Brooks & Dunn and 2nd Time Around (her cousins' band), playing pitch, horseshoes, writing poems, hula-hoop and crafts. Marlene especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren's activities 'sports', and loved taking her great-grandchildren to McDonald's. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; husband Jerry in 1985; brothers, Rick A. Marty and Jeffery Marty; and grandson, Nathaniel Jeffery Miller in 2007. Marlene is survived by her son, Justin Eric (Jennifer) Morgan of Bennington, NE; daughter, Michelle "Shelli" Marie (Ken) Gruhn of Fremont; brother, Michael (Elsa) Marty of Fremont; sister, Lori (Toby) Fitz of Arlington, NE; grandchildren, Payton Mya Morgan, Paxton Gerald Morgan, Emma Rose (Noah) Niewohner, Isabel Morgan Miller, Taylor Sibert-Gruhn, Darlin and Athena; great-grandchildren, Bentley and Kolter and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. Marlene had many "Special Friends" in her life! Plus so many "Favorite Cousins"! You know who you are because she has said "I Love You, to you! Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 24th from 5-7 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2025 also at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Jill Harman of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Lunch will follow the service at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor, CO.
