Jean Marie Nixon - December 19, 1955 - January 11, 2025 Jean Marie Nixon, 69, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away on January 11, 2025. She was born on December 19, 1955, in Dallas, Texas to Ernest and Barbara Oakley. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Curtis Ray Nixon; children, Gary Nixon and his wife Bethany, Valerie Schefer and her husband Evandro; three grandchildren, Gabriel Schefer, Chloe Schefer, and Hailey Nixon; and sister, Suzan McGee. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Sofi, Gigi and Ana. Jean married Curtis and together they raised two children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook and spend time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed painting, party planning and sewing. Jean retired from Mesquite Independent School District in 2012 after working there for 15 years. Her faith was motivated by her love for our Lord Jesus. Jean was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Barbara Oakley; brother, Stephen Oakley; and sister, Jennifer Oakley. A visitation for Jean will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home, 12649 Lake June Road, Mesquite, Texas 75180. The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and the committal service will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, Mt. Emblem Gardens.
