Thomas, age 70, of rural Council Bluffs passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home. Jerry was born on October 14, 1954 in Bellevue, NE. to the late Gearl and Thelma (Coon) Thomas. He married Nancy Janicek on March 16, 1973. Jerry worked as a Bus Driver for Metro Area Transit for 21 years retiring in 2019. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Thomas in 2022; sons, Jerry Jr. in 1978 and Jeff in 1979; grandson, Camden Simmons in 2006. Survivors include daughter, Kari (Rob) Simmons of Avoca, Iowa; 2 grandsons; Derek Simmons (fiancé Kaylee Mumm) and Will Simmons; 2 great-grandchildren, Dean and Ellie Simmons all of Avoca. Funeral Service on Saturday at 2:00PM at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
