Joe W. Kubr 99 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at Nye Legacy in Fremont. He was born October 6, 1925 near Plasi, NE to Joseph and Lydia (Wesely) Kubr. He lived at Cedar Bluffs, NE since the age of 3. Joe served in the US Air Force during World War II, he was a ball turret gunner on B17 bombers. He continued his service as Staff Sergeant in Korea until 1952. After Korea he worked at Diers Ford in Fremont. Joe married Alyce Tomsicek April 12, 1950 in Wahoo, NE. He later worked for Topco and in 1972 started at Valmont retiring in December of 1985. Alyce preceded him in death on April 15, 1988. Joe married Marjorie (Ritthaler) Harms on July 15, 1995 in Fremont. She preceded him February 10, 2021. Member First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Member of VFW Post #854 and FOE Eagles 200 both in Fremont. Member of the 385th Bomb Group Association. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Douglas (Shari Bitney) Kubr of Lincoln, NE & nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alyce, wife Marjorie; brothers, Tony and Donald Kubr; and sister, Pearl Settles. Funeral will be 10:30A.M., Thursday, December 26, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Deacon Rick Strong will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment with Military Honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Moser Memorial Chapel 2170 N.
