"Pearl P. Settles, 90 years, of North Bend, NE died Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont, NE. Pearl was born July 23, 1924 in Plasi, NE to Joseph and Lydia (Wesely) Kubr. She grew up in the Ceresco, Cedar Bluffs and Morse Bluff areas. She married Dean T. Settles on August 10, 1943 in Cedar Bluffs, NE. The couple farmed near Cedar Bluffs and then in the Purple Cane area, northwest of North Bend. They moved into North Bend in 1956. Dean died April 7, 1982. Pearl was a member of the former First United Methodist Church in North Bend, NE. Pearl is survived by sons, Gordon D. and wife, Martha Settles of North Bend, Keith F. and wife, Ava Settles of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Steven J. and wife, Amy Settles of North Bend and Dallas J. and wife, Beth Settles of Omaha, NE; daughter, Denise J. and husband, Darwin Walla of Morse Bluff, NE; son-in-law, Kenneth Schoch of Bancroft, NE; brothers, Joe and wife, Marge Kubr and Donald and wife, Jean Kubr all of Fremont, NE and Anton and wife, Ioma Kubr of Cedar Bluffs NE; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; infant son, Ross; daughter, Carol Ann Schoch; great granddaughter, Keeley Settles. Funeral service will be 1 PM, Thursday, July 23rd, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. The Rev. Greg Hall will officiate. Visitation with the family receiving friends on Wednesday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial at Fleming Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the North Bend Senior Center." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers Ave., Fremont, NE 68025.
