On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Carmon, 90 years of age, passed away, at the Summit Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility (former Anthology), in Blue Ash, Ohio. Phylis Dawn Carmon, was born on March 29, 1934, in Commerce, Texas, at Newton Oliver Puckett 's residence. Susan Emma (Warrick) Puckett (Carmon's Grandmother), assisted the physician during her delivery. Her father, Master Sergeant Raymond Vincent Conder was 21 and her mother, Iva Lou nee Puckett, was 18 years of age. On May 27, 1951, Carmon graduated from Pittsburg High School, in Pittsburg, Texas. On July 9, 1951, Carmon married Sergeant George Marion "Bud" Lynch, in Gainsville, Texas. They were divorced, on October 5, 1954. On October 15, 1954. Carmon married, Corporal Robert E. Lee McManigell they had five children, Robert (Gloria), Lesa (Rich Vale), Nina (Charles Donald Reynolds), Rose (James Clark Harris) and Michael (Glenna). She had eight grandchildren , David E. Lee Qualls (Amber), Clay Smith (Cassie), Morgan Paige McManigell-Strader (William Falor III) - Amy Lynn Harris (Rossum Shahandeh), Michael Keith Dunn (Trish), Candice Marie McManigell (Mike Brackney, Derek Brias), Holly Michele McManigell (Billy Rogers) and a bonus granddaughter, Skyla. Great grandchildren, Alexis Ann, Hannah, Trenton, Bailey, Harper, Hudson, Wills, Paige, Dreah, Addison, Kaylee, Riley, Payton, Patrick, Satchelle and Francis. One great great grandchild, Mylonna. Carmon had six siblings, Lew Vincent, Peter S. Doty, Saundra, Kathy, Anita Ray and Suzanne. She was preceded in death by husband's George, Robert and Sam, son, Michael Shayne, granddaughter, Candice, grandson, Michael Keith Dunn, sister, Anita Ray, brother, Lew Vincent and special cousin, Gerald Hugh Fitzgerald. Carmon loved her family dearly, had a love for dogs, was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress, enjoyed genealogy spending hours on research with her daughter Nina adding to their family tree, she enjoyed the Indianapolis 500 races, worked at the General Electric Plant, in Decatur, IL and was co-partner with her husband, Robert (Mack), owning Mack's Motors in Decatur, IL and also, worked at Walmart, in Inverness, Florida. In 1981, she moved to Inverness, Florida and after the death of Robert, on January 1, 2012, she married Sam Altman August 10, 2012 and then, moved to Ocala, FL. They enjoyed life, traveled and took in two cats, Alex and Harrytoes, which she loved dearly. Sam passed away, on April 4, 2023, in Ocala, Florida. Special thanks, to Sam...while taking care of mom for over ten years. Carmon was a dedicated member, of the Temple Beth Sholom, in Ocala, Florida. A special thank you, to the Summit (a.k.a. Anthology) Assisted Living and Memory Care) of Blue Ash, all of Carmon's caregivers, Nakia, her hospice nurse, Tonya and Crossroads Hospice for the care, comfort and support. A private graveside service, will be held, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 8740 S. Pine Avenue, in Ocala, Florida, on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Carmon will be buried next to her late husband, Sam Altman. Some of her ashes, will be placed on her son, Michael's grave, in Inverness, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, may be made to: the American Heart Association, the Dementia/Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society. Obituary written by Family.
