Bio

Beth West Beth Gillman West, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 99. She was born in Orem, Utah, and spent the majority of her life in Pleasant Grove, where she raised a family, served her community, and pursued a variety of passions. Beth was a proud graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, Class of 1943. After completing a year at Brigham Young University, she attended LDS Business College to gain secretarial skills, which she put to use during World War II. She married Eleroy H. West, with whom she shared 75 years of love and partnership, and together they raised four children: William G. West (Verlene), Jacquelyn W. Warnick, Gregory G. West (Joan), and Richard H. West (Teri). A woman of deep faith and commitment to service, Beth was actively involved in the PTA, volunteered on the boards of numerous local charities, and held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. In 1990, she and Eleroy fulfilled a lifelong dream by serving an LDS mission to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where they made lasting friendships and contributed to the work of the Church. Beth's passion for creativity and craftsmanship found an outlet in her lifelong love of sewing. Her intricate designs and attention to detail earned her numerous accolades, including several "Best in Show" awards at county and state fairs. Whether working on a sewing project or simply spending time with loved ones, Beth's influence was felt by everyone she knew. She was the last surviving member of the J.W. and Estella Gillman family. In addition to her children, she is survived by 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her presence, wisdom, and love. Beth and Eleroy were avid travelers, and after retirement, they explored much of Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Alaska, and Mexico, enjoying the beauty and culture of the world together. Services are under direction of Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Battle Creek 7th Ward chapel; 1106 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing before the service at the church from 9:30 - 10:45 am.
