Bio

Howard Lee Vann 86, of Bremond went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones. Howard was born to Willie Vann and Verna (Mauk) Vann in Franklin, Texas on August 27, 1936. He attended school in New Baden. Howard married Jackie Hailey in Houston on October 9, 1954 and had an amazing 68 years of marriage. Howard had many jobs in his lifetime; Alcoa, Robertson County Commissioner's Crew, and Crane Plumbing which he was at for 30 years. He was a Mason for over 60 years and a Past Master multiple times. He took his masonry work very seriously and could recite memory work perfectly. He became an Entered Apprentice on February 6, 1962, was passed to Fellow Craft on May 23, 1962, and was raised to Master Mason on June 29, 1962. Over his 60 years, he was an active member of eight different lodges and would travel anywhere to help another lodge when asked. Howard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them…and of course, going to many sporting events along the way. He loved tending his livestock and gardening. On countless occasions over the years, Howard shared fruits and vegetables from his garden with older folks in town; he believed in giving back. For many years, Howard was a little league coach during which time he made a lasting impression on the lives of many young men. He was a great man and a wonderful father and will be greatly missed by many. Howard was preceded in death by his Parents; brothers: Vernon Vann, JP Vann, Joe Vann, Luther Vann, and Will Vann Jr; sisters: Faye Moore, Alpha Dooley, and Mozelle Sanders; and son, Lane Vann. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Bremond Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. The funeral will be Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Grace Methodist Church in Bremond at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Tidwell Prairie Cemetery.
