Bio

Betty Lou Elliott Sandusky was a Christmas baby born on December 25, 1926 in Konawa, OK to John A. Elliott and Ruth Ida (Brinlee) Elliott. She passed away peacefully at home September 28, 2024, at the young age of 97. Betty grew up in Konawa, OK and attended Konawa schools and graduated in 1944. She would later work for the Soil Conservation and Fish Hatchery until retirement. She met the love of her life, Billy Joe Sandusky and they were married June 4th, 1949. Quilting was her passion and her love for so many years. Many of her quilts would sell for thousands of dollars each. Betty Sandusky always was the most eloquently dressed person in the room. She had the self-proclaimed title as being the oldest resident in Bromide, OK. Betty and her husband Billy Joe had the oldest couple title and if you knew my uncle you know he ate it up with joy and laughter. With title in hand, they could be found riding in the Founder's Day parade each year. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Elliott; son, Joe Mack Sandusky; and her beloved husband of 72 years, Billy Joe Sandusky; son in law, Kenneth Pennington; daughter in law, Carla Sandusky. Those she leaves to cherish her memories are her children, Deborah K Foreman and husband Bob of Newalla, OK, Thad Sandusky and wife Sandy of Davis, OK, Janie Cagle and husband Don of Bromide, OK; 10 grandchildren, Robert Foreman, Clint Foreman, Levi Foreman, Billy Joe Foreman, Sandy Parsons, Keith Sandusky, Keith Bonham, Ashley Hood, Shasta Cowan and Alex Pennington; 24 great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; sister, Alice Dean Adams of Oklahoma City and John Elliott of Tuttle, OK. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Coleman Church of Christ with Mike Pannell to officiate. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Wapanucka. Family hour will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at DeArman-Clark Funeral Home. Those serving as pallbearers will be Robert Foreman, Clint Foreman, Levi Foreman, Billy Joe Foreman, Keith Sandusky and Alex Pennington.
