Rosalee Seely Shawn passed away on September 28, 2024, in Athens, Texas. Rose was born in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Chester LeRoy Seely and Goldie Mae Snider on September 09, 1927. She grew up in Duncan, Oklahoma, subsequently meeting and marrying Orville H. Shawn (deceased 2001) in February 1944. Rose and Orville moved to the Athens area in 1973, and they remained in the area for 51 years. During her time in Athens, Rose was very involved in Senior Citizen Activities and Care. She worked for Henderson County Meals on Wheels and the Henderson County Hot Lunch program for many years. She never missed an opportunity to dance! She enjoyed painting, sewing and many other arts and crafts activities in her later days. She loved wildflowers and the countryside. Rose and Orville had 4 children during their 56-year marriage. Daniel H. Shawn(deceased), Sheila G. Shawn(deceased), Cheryle Shawn Davis (Donald M. Davis), and Richard E. Shawn. Rose is survived by 4 grandchildren, Shannon Shawn Smith (Joshua Smith), Brooke Davis Remes (Charles M. Remes), Erin S. Davis, and Joshua D. Shawn. She was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren, Cash, Chloe, and Sawyer Shawn and Theodore, Benjamin, and Grace Remes.
